A SLOWER KIND OF MORNING
By nine, the town had already begun to wake. Café tables edged onto the pavement, shutters opened above the narrow streets, and somewhere nearby came the familiar clatter of cups being stacked behind a bar.
There was nowhere in particular to be. We followed the road toward the water, stopping when something caught our attention—a doorway left open, a basket of peaches outside a shop, the sound of someone calling from an upstairs window. It was the kind of morning that made a schedule seem completely unnecessary.

Above that altitude, it’s unlikely you’d be able to make a cellular call unless the plane was outfitted with its own mobile service (like Virgin Atlantic planes had back in the 2010s).
